From October 5 to 9, a study visit was held by a delegation from the Rakhiv District of Zakarpattia Oblast, which included experts in household waste management, representatives of government agencies, municipal utilities, and local government bodies.

The project by our colleagues in Rakhiv is very valuable to the communities of the Tereblya Valley, as both areas share similar mountainous terrain, face restrictions related to nature reserves, and have identical waste management challenges.
Representatives of the “Rakhiv EcoTour” organization invited the Executive Director of the Local Association of Local Self-Government Bodies “TeRA” to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and discuss the importance of expanding the project to other areas in the future. Currently, the organization, in collaboration with the Rakhiv City Council, is implementing the project “Cooperation for Municipal Development in the Carpathian Region of Ukraine through the Implementation of a Pilot Project on Environmentally Sound Plastic Waste Management in the Rakhiv Community.” is being implemented by the NGO “RakhivEcoTour” in partnership with the Rakhiv City Council, with support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Secretariat of the Carpathian Convention.
Denis Man took part in a visit to the "MiReHu" waste treatment plant in Miskolc, in a meeting with the mayor of Miskolc (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County), in the “Environtec Expo 2026” exhibition, and in the proceedings of the international conference “Landfilling: Last Resort?”

The Association’s team and communities express their gratitude to Viktoria Gubko, director of the “RakhivEcoTour” organization, for the opportunity to learn from the Hungarians’ experience, and wish for the successful implementation of the project for the benefit of the Carpathian communities.
